Stoke Park Paddling Pool is Resurfaced with Sea Life Theme

17th June 2016

Guildford Stoke Park, a Green Flag Award Winner, has welcomed an increase in visitor numbers since the opening of the recently refurbished paddling pool and new plant room.

Hippo Leisure have contributed in giving the Paddling Pool in Guildford a bright and vibrant new look for the summer by supplying and installing a UK sea life themed surface to the floor and upstands of the paddling pool. The colourful aquatic designs will add excitement for children visiting the pool with their families and include an octopus, a turtle and a whale as well as a range of fun shapes! The surface incorporates a rubber granule which creates a non-slip finish to help to prevent injuries in the pool. The surface is also impact absorbing and soft on children’s feet.

Water Factory and Splash Toys Brighten up the Mariner Leisure Centre

27th May 2016

Hippo Leisure has installed a Water Factory as well as a selection of Splash Toys at the Mariner Leisure Centre in Camelon, just outside Fulkirk.

The centre wanted to convert the existing pool into a highly interactive play area designed to excite, stimulate and develop young minds and help to increase regular family visits and kid appeal.

Hippo rose to the challenge of providing a unique range of high and low level play features to entertain children of all ages and abilities, whilst creating as much interactivity as possible in the pool space available.

Toddlers and younger children will enjoy playing with an interactive Waterball and a selection of Splash Toys including tactile wall panels featuring fishy creatures, mirrored portholes, interactive play panels (which create mental and physical stimulation and have various aquatic themes including treasure island, swim challenge and sea serpent), water channels and various aquatic themed slides. Hippo’s Under the Sea Toddler Slide provides fantastic interaction in the pool with its mirrored port hole and spinning fish with googly eyes. A kids whale slide and refurbished walrus and frog slides are also sure to be huge hits!

The older children will love the surprise and anticipatory play that is provided by tipping buckets, a waterwheel and a shark shower, all suspended from either a 4 arm mast connected to the waterball or from a span pipe connecting the waterball to a second mast. The buckets are filled by water jets and once a critical fill level is reached, the buckets tip splashing water onto children playing below. The waterwheel sprays water in several directions and the shark shower creates an exciting visual impact whilst gently showering those beneath it. Three bright and vibrant fish squirts in different sizes and mounted at different heights also add to the fun.

Hippo has designed the play area to ensure that it is suitable for future expansion.

Hippo Bring Interactive Play to Carnival Pool

29th April 2016

Hippo have transformed the beach area at Carnival Pool in Wokingham into an exhilarating interactive water play zone for toddlers and young children. Hippo installed a variety of high and low level play features which are designed to help increase water confidence.

The centrepiece of the new play area is an interactive pirate themed waterball which will create excitement for toddlers. Features of the waterball include handwheels which children turn to control the flow of the water to jets on the waterball, as well as fill and spill buckets which are filled by the jets. In addition to this, themed cannons create a gentle flow of water into the pool for children to play with and increase their water confidence. The waterball also has a mast which is connected by a span pipe arch to a second mast which contains 4 interactive arms. The span pipe features 4 small tipping buckets which will soak children playing beneath them at random intervials, and also 2 small water wheels which spin water in several directions as children wait in anticipation to be sprayed. The 4 arm mast is home to 2 shark shower arms as well as an additional small water wheel.

The walls of the 2 small spa pools have been brightened up with aquatic themed tactile wall panels which provide visual stimulation. Each panel has a tactile surface with an aquatic creature carved out of it and is great for encouraging toddlers and young children who have a fear of water to enter the pool.

Finally an under the sea themed toddler slide will add to the fun as children climb from the poolside onto the slide and splash into the pool. The slide features a porthole mirror which will enable children to have fun peering through it to watch their reflection, as well as a selection of interactive spinning fish for extra tactile and visual stimulation.

The play features utilise the existing water supply and the project was completed during a scheduled closure for other works to avoid disruption to the pools regular activity timetable.

Hippo Leisure to Exhibit at Elevate

29th March 2016

Hippo Leisure will exhibit at Elevate 2016, stand AA5 to promote how their range of interactive water play equipment can support leisure facilities with their teaching programmes and encourage water confidence and physical activity in children of all ages and abilities.  Elevate will take place at Olympia in London, 4th - 5th May 2016 and is the UK's first cross-sector event bringing together experts from all areas of the physical activity sector including those working with local authorities, to tackle physical activity.

  • Water factories featuring both high and low level surprise and anticipatory play
  • Interactive play panels, which offer a variety of aquatic themed games and activities whilst providing visual, auditory and tactile stimuli
  • Themed squirts which encourage children to manipulate water flow
  • Water tables and interactive channels which allow children to channel water using interactive paddles

Hippo look forward to meeting you on stand AA5 to discuss how interactive play can increase interest in physical activity at your facility and also increase revenue and visitor numbers.
